Do you think these kids are being forced or are they old enough to decide this is what they want? Do you think it is what they want to do or what their mothers want them to do? Can it be compared to putting kids on sports teams like soccer, basketball, or dance class?

yes i do think the children are being forced to do this and i think the are old enough to make their own decisions.i also think its hat the mothers want them to do because in this type of society people will do anything just to make money to survive. you can compare this to sports because some people that really do not like sports, they get forced by their parents to do it.

I DONT THINK THE ARE FORCED, THEY ARE TAUGHT TO LIKE IT. I THINK THEY LIKE IT AND THEY ARE OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE THEIR OWN DESIONS, TO ME THIS IS LIKE A SPORT AND EITHER THE CHILD CAN LIKE IT OR SHE/HE MIGHT NOT LIKE IT. AND IF THEY DONT THEY CAN TELL THEIR PARENTS THAT

i doont think these kids are being forced to do pagents because their parents are putting them in these pagents basically at birth so they know nothing but pagents. i do think the girls like it because they get to a age were they could decide if they want to continue or not. i do think that this can compare to sports because its a hobbie as well.

In my opinion these children are being forced, there not old enough to decide what they really want. Children are in the stage of growing up and making discoveries about the world, play, eat, and go to school. I highly believe there doing what their mothers want them to do.I do not compare this to putting kids on sport teams because team sports is about making new friends, enjoying activities with others, and learning how to be better. Putting on make up, getting dress like grown-ups, and being in a tv show where it causes alot of drama is not good in a childs state of being.
I dont think kids are being forced to be in these events. But I do think that they being heavily pushed to do so. most of their mothers may have never had the chance to do this sort of thing as a cild, so they project this image and life style on their kids

i think this kids could be forced and some may want to do this. i think many of the mothers want their daughters to do this to bring them money so they dont have to work. moms are very clever many can tlk their child into things while making the child think they want to do it. i dont think this can be compared to joining sports teams because you dont recieve money from those things unless child wants to work to become the best.
I think that these kids are old enough to decide what they want to do because we all know that little girls want to be pretty & fancy nowadays because of the media. i think that it's what THEY & their MOTHERS want to do. For a fact that THEY do NEED money & the fact that their kids might be famous one day & they're going to be rich. And yes it can be compared to sports or dance classes for the girls to be active and/or to enjoy & experience other things during their growing age. They might be forced to do so, or they might not.

I dont think these girls are being forced and they are old enough to decide what they want to do. It may be what their mothers want them to do but it also want the children want to do the mothers are supoorting their interest as well as their childrens. It definantly can be compared to putting kids on sports teams its a sport/hobby in a sense just like modeling.

I think some of the children are being forced into pagents because in the type of socitey we live in where people belive winning is everything also fame and money is more important than their moral standards.
Also even though some children enjoy these pagents they arent the only one with the feeling of winning and having a high self esteem..the parent..mostly the mother feels good because the attention that she gets also the attention that the child gets from the audience and media. -Tarreah Tate 1b
No these kids are being forced to do these pagent because they want to dress up and be pretty like their doll babies. it is every girls dream to be a princess. their moms may push their children to wear flippers and all to enhance their beauty everyone does something in their life to enhance their beauty in their life. people are taking this situation to serious as long as their is no harm to the child this is perfectly ok.

I think that theses kids were being forced in the beginning but have grown to like doing these pageants. i blieve that the mothers force the girls to do the pageants becuase they enjoyed doing them when they were younger. These pagaents are like sports becuase thety are competitive competitions that people are very serious about.
I think that little girls are being forced to wear these outfits and makeup because they are going to be rewarded in there favor. So the adults want this for there children kids don't want to look like this they don't even have time to decide that. They are wearing so much makeup that they don't even look real but dress them like a actual child not like a stripper, or hoe. Excuse my language please but that's my personal opinion.

I think that it can go both ways. Some kids are being forced by their parents/mothers.I feel that the child can chose what ever they want as long as it isnt wrong. At a certain age for different children, they can begin to start making their own decisions about what they want to do.
I believe there are children who are forced to compete, those who want to compete., and crazy parents who compete through their children. This can be similar to being put on a sports team because, it could help them later in life in some ways.

Honestly I've seen shows about this and from what I've seen that childeren are forced to do it. Thats in most cases. Yes girls like to dress pretty but not for compotetion. Thats not to say some all dont like it but most dont.
Thier toddlers after all.

Honestly Yes I Do Think Kids Are being forced to do it but i also think they have a choice. parents put their children in activities while they are young to keep them active and as they do it more and more the children may grow to like it. Ofcourse beauty pagent is what their mother want them to do but its the same as fathers want there boys to play basket ball or football.
Taylor Bynum 1A
I believe the kids are being forced to a certain extent were they may want to be in beauty pagents, but the parents take it to the extreme, for example the moms who dressed their kids up in the racey adult wardrobe. The mothers statement of she thought it was funny, were her feelings, but other people see it as forcing your child to grow up into something they're not ready for

You Know Who It Is. I'm here to say all this crap straight wrong b. No way these lil girls need to be taught this way of life. Lord Knows these kids need ambition because its the way of life. this grind is all I know. These little girls are being raised to be brats. Their parents need to raise them to be ambitious so when they get old they know how to survive without throwing a tantrum.BO$$ has spoken. I do it *boiiii*.

I think these kids are being forced into doing pagents. I dont think there old enough to know what they want. Kids dont know how to make their own decisions, they'll just listen to whatever there parents tell them to do and they'll do it. In my opinion, I think that the parents makes the kids like being in pagents and then later on the kids would want to be in one. It can be compared to be a sport because some kids do like to be in pagents.

I think that these little girls are being forced to put makeup on and be a girly girl despite what they want. But parents believe it is what every girl wants so they do it anayways. This happens to both girls and boys, the parents influence what they are going to become when they grow up and this is wrong.

I believed that in a way some may be forced and others love the attention that they get from doing the pageants. They are old enough, If they are old enough to say yes no please and thank you, I believe that they are old enough to know what they want. This can be compared to putting your child on teams, some parents do it because they once wanted to, and other parents see their child take entrance in a sport at a very young age.

Just like new years resolutions this matter is pure stupidity also. The economy is $hi++y and we are worrying about toddlers in some stupid dresses. This is why America is disliked by many they (Typical American) live their lives like nothing else is important.Toddlers are trying on dresses when there are people trying to make ends meet in their own house hold and their is a TV show about some damn kids in dresses im pissed.
i think that the kids are being forced to to want their moms wanted to do at a young age but was unable to do. the girls are to young to know want they are doing so they think it is ok.yes it could be compared to other sports because you have to practice and prepare for it.

This Is my show but I think the little girl mothers are forcing them. When your 3 years old you don't really no what a beauty pageant is I think the little girls just get overwhelmed when they see make-up and things they see their mothers putting on . You can't compare this to a sport because only parents with lots of money put their kids in pageants and this is something the girls parents want them to do Domonique Moore 2a
I think the kids of toddlers in tiaras are being forced to do these pageants. I also believe that’s why some of them are on meds. I think that their mothers and fathers are want them to do this. The girls probably think that its fun sometimes but not all the time because they cant really be a child and do the things that kids do. Yes it can be compared to putting kids on sport teams because half of them may want to do something in life and their parents keep pushing them and telling them that what their making them do is better for them in life. Plus kids hate to disappoint their parents dream for them.

i think are forced to do it but then some kids see it on TV and want to be just like a model but parents kinda take it a little bit too far and it's like they want the kid too work really hard to achieve there goal but just let the kid take a break. Jamal Hailey-2B
I actually watch the show, and its really half and half. Some of the girls actually want to do this, and some of them are being forced, and no they arent really hold enough to decide if this is what they want because they are entered in it at like 1.For some of the girls its what they want want, but for the most part its what the mothers want. Yes it can be compared to playing sports because some kids are forced to play sports and some kids just really want to play.

I do think that they are forced to compete in this pageants, because they sometimes do cry and there parents still make them preform on stage. Some of these moms are crazed and obsessed with these pageants. This can not be compared with competitive sports such as soccer, basketball, or dance.

I believe toddlers & tiaras is a mistake and puts a negative perspective on television shows nowadays. This show influences young girls concept on appearances. I do believe its making these girls grow up too fast if they grow up in surroundings where they're being praised for wearing unsuitable clothing then there most likely going to feel comfortable in this environment for the rest of their lives. As far as the parents are concerned, their clearly more worried about there daughters appearances and winning a pageant then they probably will be about them learning and growing up to be respectable young ladies.
in my opinion i think that the children are being forced to these pageants they are not old enough to decide what they want they may not know the difference between good and bad. i think that they should not make these pageants because they are way too young to get waxes , patting or to watch what they eat that they have to be skinny that would not be fair to the kids and i think that is their age to have fun be a kid to explore.and i think that this is what their mothers want just because it makes them look cute or funny and i don't think it is considered as a sport because some kids are being forced to this and with sports such as soccer , basketball, and dance they can do alot more things

I believe that these little toddlers are not old enough to make their own decisions do model especially if they have to have fake teeth to make them look good or presentable. I think that certain kids want to do this be cause their parents told them about it while others just listen to their mother while they don't want to do anything. This is not even close to putting kids on sports, this is just Jr. modeling for people who want to watch them. I believe that they should cancel the show and forget all about toddler modeling.

I think that their parents or mainly their moms are forcing them to enter these compitions. But the show is funny thoug when the kids talk back to their moms. I think it is just like putting your kids on a soccer team.

I feel as though these little girls are forced to do this because it seems to me when I watch it with my mom the little girls look happy but most of the time it's just the parents living a dream through them. This can be compared to a child who doesn't like a sport or a sports team but have to like it because while they are growing up that is what their parent/s liked. this can be COMPLETELY compared to kids that do not want play certain sports or do certain activities.
Do you think these kids are being forced or are they old enough to decide this is what they want?
I think they are being forced by the moms because the moms probably want them to be perfect and do this and do that when they just little kids and they want to have fun, and not be so strict on and be putting so much stress on them
Do you think it is what they want to do or what their mothers want them to do?
Its what their mothers what them to do because I never heard of such thing of a little kid that want to be in of child beauty pageants all the time. Little kids want to have fun, not do this all the time.
Can it be compared to putting kids on sports teams like soccer, basketball, or dance class?
Yes it can be compared to that because the practice and be under stress just like if you play those sports, you still have to practice so that you can win and be the best-Juwan Reese 1b
I do think the children are being forced to do it at first, but once they do a couple of pagent they start liking it and start getting addicted to it. I think the mother's always go overboard with all the hair, make-up, and nails. they are only little kids and they are smothering them all unecessary things. That one mother really went overboard when she added breast padding. All this is to much for these little girls. They would be much better if they just played a regular sport that they didn't have to change their appearecne in.

Seriously! What the heck are these moms thinking that they dress up their little girl/boy like if they were fashion dolls. i think these moms are forcing and that they want their child to do those stupid pageants. this can not be compared to a sport because when the kids do sports they have fun and aren't ruining their thoughts of who they are and their age. pageants shouldn't be for children that are 3-7 years of age those things should be for kids a lil much older and mature. moms are ruining their child's skin by putting make up on them. the girl in the picture to the right looks like a glass doll that i have. honestly that pic freaked me out it reminded me of these American girl dolls. the pic on the right it OK maybe for Halloween out the pointy boobies were to much. i would never put ma child in anything stupid like a pageant i would have them have a normal regular childhood.

This was probably the mothers' dream when she was growing up. So, when she found out she couldn't join, she got upset. As a result, they turn their little girls from a little angel to a little "Devil Wears Parada." This is not the best way to have the little 5 to 8 year old girls be dress, when mothers and fathers already don't let their teenage daughter where the small clothes. So, what if the little girls actually like or start to like wearing those types of clothes and try and turn it into regular everyday wear. I would have to say that the mothers want the kids to do more than the kids wanting to do it themselves. No,this CAN'T be compared to putting kids in sports, because i know that kids want to join sports themselves. Sometimes the parents might force the kid but for the kids benefit.

I did the post above
yea i do thinnk they are being forced to do this but then i dont because they might not be forced because some of the kids might actually like what they are doing. But the others that do one little thing wrong and get cursed out by their mother they are the ones that are being forced .Tthe mothers take the anger out on their little daughters because the mothers never had a chance to do this so they expect for their kids to do their dream that they couldnt do.But for the mothers that have had the chance to do it when they were younger they just want for their daughters to take on their legacy or family name. I also think it is different for a parent to force their child into sports then into the dance thing because kids might not like sports but when they get use to it then they start to like it butt with the dancing thing the girls always getting yelled at 24/7.

I think it is all the parents because they want their child to win the pageant. I think it is selfish for the parents to do that because it might not be what the child wants but the child might be to scared to say anything because they will get yelled at or forced and that's sad on the parents part. Also the parents might be having the child living their dream.
Raymond Flowers 1B
To me i think they are being forced and are they are growing up too fast,And i think its what the mothers want them to do. If the mothers want them to do it, in the kids mind they think its okay. And yea can be compared to sports but at the same time it cant because sports are good, and putting tiaras to make them seem grown or a age they are not isnt good.
I think they are being forced to do this probably by there mothers because there mothers might wanted to do this thing when they was young but couldnt for sometype of reason so they make there child to do this since they didnt do it.
Terrence Moore 1B
These little kids wear more make-up then I do. They are growing up too fast because of the things they are exposed to, such as make-up, bras, etc. I think that it is a mixture of the kids wanting to do it and being force, when most girls are young and they want to dress up too, but this take it to the extreme. Although, this is a pageant there should be a age limit of things these kids are doing. In addition, this somewhat can be compared to sports, baseball, dance etc, because some kids might grow up and continue to be in pageants if they really like it.
-Jada Young 2B
Michael West 4A Actually kids beg to get the stuff they want. A parent would suggest a toy but the kids know what they want. A parent could force a kid to do sports but they encourage it.
Honesty i do not like they show toddlers and tiaras. They show depicts these children as if they are teens or adults. If they want to display their beauty and talent why not let them be kids. They are to young to know what they are doing all they kno is they see themselves as "BARBIE". O im pretty. i think these children are being forced to do something they do not like. They are to young to understand why they like what they are doing. As with parents putting children on sports teams. The child is not going to fully know or understand why they like what they do. They just do it because thier parents say its good, it is ok, or you like this. Parents only see the est for their kids and if they see a small glimmer of success in a specific activity they make them stick with it because they think they will begood at it, without know the childs true feelings.
I am a huge fan of the show I watch it every once in a while on TLC. From my judgement I believe these kids are not being forced They look happy and enjoy getting dolled up with make-up and Dresses. They are of age where they can decide whether or not they want to take part in certain activities. Children only want to do what they love and if by any means they felt it wasn't a joy in what they do Im almost sure they would refuse to do so.
Karisa Johnson 4A
I think parents should stop signing their kids up for stuff they don't want to do. Parents think its best for them and some just want to live their dream through their kids. The mothers put it in their kids heads that its what they both want. The mother only wants it.
to me, these adorable kids are being forced to do these things. In the kid's perspective, what they want to do is play! I think this is what their parents want for the kids. BUT IT'S NOT FAIR. let the child do what she wants to do! I mean, although there's a certain limit to doing that, they shouldn't be doing these things! it's too much for the kids & it loses their innocence, cute, & playful image! you don't want that for your child! you're putting shame on them & only embarrassing yourself on your part.
this is a different situation than putting these kids on sport teams. it CLEARLY crosses the boundary of being a kid! these costumes are too advanced for these kids! it's NONSENSE.

I don't think that all of the children on the show are being forced to take part in these pageants because it could be something that they like doing , like how some kids want to be a part of ballet or football. However, i did notice how a lot of the time the guardian ( usually the mother ) would get so wrapped up in it that if the child were not to win, they would be more upset than the child themselves. in most cases unfortunately it is the mothers who want them to do it instead of the children sadly.
yes I do think these girls are being forced to these type of things. I think because their mothers never had the chance to live that kind of dream so they use their children to do it for them which some of the kids really do not want to do. Even though the parents are in charge I think children at that age should have a choice to able to choose if they want to become somethimg like that or just have a regulare child hood.
Jermaine Taylor 2A
Yes, i think these little girls are being forced to do this. I think their parents want them to do this. It cannot be compared to making your kids do a sport like basketball, soccer or dance class. it cannot be compared because these sports are healthy for a child. you get alot of advantages out of sports, they are having fun and exercising at the same time. some of the little girls on the show wear ALOT of makeup.
aneya dixon 3b
At the age of 3 or 4 I do not think that these kids are old enough to say wether they want to participate. I do believe that these kids mothers are making them do this. More than likely the kids dont even know of the people who they are pretending to be or dressing up like. It is not like putting a kid on a sports team because usually a child asks their parent can they do that particular thing, but there are cases when a parent will force a child to do some type of extraciricular activity.
Andre Lowery

yes, i do think they are forced to like it. the kids have not been on earth long enough to now for themselves. this is crazy because these are the parents who will complain when there child gets pregnant or dress inappropriate all the time. this cannot be compaed to a sport because sports do not force kids to wear make up and tiaras
marques malone
Yes, I think that some people's parents are forcing them to do things that they dont wanna do. There are young-minded and they cant really think for thereselves. They just do what there parents say because they think that its fun. When some kids get older they feel that they waisted there time doing what there parents wanty so now they cant persue there dreams.
3B
No i don't think the children are forced to do this by there parents. I think even though the girls are young they still watch alot of television and they can get alot of beauty from all types of media.
In some cases you can tell its what the kid actually wants to do but mostly all i see is headache for a child. More so I think its what the mother wants. Children of such a young age cant even really make a decision for themselves! In a way it can be compared to sports because once again some parents force children to it. All in all usually a child has no say in what goes on
Children are not old enough to know what they want, with that being said, I believe that the children aren't forced to do these competitions, but are forced to dress how they dress. Some of the mothers do, however, like to live their lives through their daughters, forcing them to dress way beyond their age. I can compare beauty competitions with sports, an example would be the amount of training the competitors would have to do before the actual event.
:Hunter Howard 1B:
i feel as though these children are old enough to know what they want for now, however, their parents should be looking at how this is beneficial to the childrens future. also, i dont think the children are being forced, i think they enjoy it. i do think that thisd might be the only thing their parents have opened them up, so they really dont know what else they want.
-justyc hicks , 2a
I think the kids are being forced to do these things they are doing.I think since probably when there mothers where small they could not do the things they wanted to do so they are puting that burden on there kids to do what they really wanted to do.No it cannot be compared because some people choose to play sports.EboOtuya-2b
These kids are being forced to do this show. They are not old enough to do what they want. The kids do not even understand what they are being asked. Dressing up for shows is what their mothers want them to do because they do not even know what these shows represent at such a young age. It may compare to kids on other sports teams, however it has been taken to extreme measures to win.
Tariq Abdullah- 2A
I think when the kids are really really really young then of course their being force to do it but when they are older than they have the decision if they want to do the competitions or not. At times I feel like it's what their mothers want because they win money if their daughters when the highest title out of the whole pageant. Then the other times it's both the mothers and the daughters because a lot of the daughters like being and the pageants and feeling pretty. I think it can be compared to sports because just like sports they have to practice what they have to do, and get ready for that day, and they go through so many preparations.
In my opinion i think that the children are being forced to these pageants they are not old enough to decide what they want they may not know the difference between good and bad. i think that they should not make these pageants because they are way too young to get waxes , patting or to watch what they eat that they have to be skinny that would not be fair to the kids and i think that is their age to have fun be a kid to explore.and i think that this is what their mothers want just because it makes them look cute or funny and i don't think it is considered as a sport because some kids are being forced to this and with sports such as soccer , basketball, and dance they can do alot more things.
I think that the children are being forced to do these pageants because they are not old enough to think for themselves. I think that in a lot of the situations, the parents are trying to live out there dreams in their children. I dont think that this can be compared to putting a kid on a sports team, because a sports team encourages teamwork, discipline, and it promotes exercise. Putting a kid in a pageant is exploitation in my opinion.
These children, kids are being forced. Many of these young girls mom's maybe force them to it because they didn't have the chance to model. This is on the same level of a DAD pushing his son in sports because HE want's his son to do it.These children should have a say so in what they wan't or should do because it's there life not the PARENTS.
Virgil 4A
I do not believe children are forced to do this. I strongly believe this is what they want to do and they are doing it. Children are old enough to make these kind of decisions whether or not they want to do it. Their parents may have put the idea in their head and made them try it, but eventually they ended up falling in love with doing it. It can be compared to any other normal sport because, parents make children try new things and based on how much that child likes it they continue to do it. My mother made me try volleyball and i ended up falling in love with the sport, and i cant get enough of it.

Yea there being forced to do this becuase no kid wakes up ine morning and says mommy pack up our bags were going on a competetion around the world to be little princesses no thee parents say i want the better for my child and go way to far therefore it makes the kis the worst in life. they should be outside riding bikes and playing barbies not being one and using makeup at the age of 6 thats completely stupid towards the parents

Yes I Think They Are Being Forced That's a Little Much For a Little Girl Much For a Little Girl. Those Girls Should Be Having a Normal Fun Child Hood Playing With Dolls And Things Like That. They Are Not Old Enough To Decide Or Make Any Type Of Choices Or Decisions They Don't Know What They Want And I Think The Parents Are a Little Over The Top To Pressuring Thier Child But I Think Some Parents Do It For Money Or Just To Have Thier Child Seen On T.v.
Lyric Freeman/P:2A
I do not believe children are forced into these things. As a child at 6 or 7 you understand what you are doing and if you don't want to its your choice. Yes, i believe parents decide what they want their children to do, but at the end of the day its what you want. Some people have become really successful because their parents started them in stuff like pagents when their young. To me its all just a stereotype because as parents you see what girls are "suppose" to do and you try to get them to do it, same for boys too.
1. I do not think that the children in pageants are forced into it, because at that age the child knows what he or she does like or does not like.
2. Some cases, its safe to say that some parents are pushy when it comes to pursuing their child's career in pageantry, but most parents see the spunk and beauty in their child and will find that pageantry is a perfect fit.
3. I definitely think that pageantry can be considered equivalent to any sport because just as much hard work athletes put into a sport, is just as much as the children put into the art of pageantry.
