What Has Changed?

I'm sure many of you have been reading watching lots of memorials regarding the events of 9/11/01. We have all been reflecting on where we were and what we were doing when everything happened. For this blog, I just want you guys to ponder this one question:
How Has America Changed Since 9/11??

This is a quote that stood out to me today: "More important than what happened ten years ago today (9/11/01) is what happened ten years ago tomorrow (9/12/01) - if every American could come together like they did on that day we could see a period of greatness never before experienced in our history."

America has changed since 9/11 because people have come together as one to fix the problems that occured on that dreadful day. A lot of mistakes happened on that day from airport security mishaps and people failing to realize they looked suspicious. Now airport security is a lot stricter and evacuation protocals are a lot clearer.

Since 9/11 America has gotten a lot stricter . like in airports , before 9/11 you could get on the plane with any and everything and no one would ever know , what you were carrying on the plane , there was no medal detectors , full body scans or anything . but after the terrorist attack they stop letting people take on lotions , sprays , lip glosses , and any thing else that seems like a threat . also america has gotten alot more racist towards Muslims . if an american was to get on a plane and see a Muslim , they automatically think " terrorist " .

America has absolutely changed since 9/11. The country has become more annoying and sensitive. Every single year it's a "new terrorist attack" on 9/11 or the country has to continuosly shove down your throat the attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center. We know it was a national travesty but can we please move on? I was simply trying to watch football yesterday and there was no escaping it, it suffocates you every year. The network had the nerve to bring on some 9/11 children who lost their parents, well how can they move on if you keep throwing their parent's death in their faces? I mean every single year with this, you don't mourn deaths for ten consecutive years, you try to move on with your life. We all know this is just a ploy for the government to take more rights of the American people and hiding behind "terrorism" and "national security". And I believe the most annoying part was the network got Robert DeNiro to read some lines off a teleprompter while football is supposed to be on, how can you get mad at the president of the U.S for trying to make an address when football comes on but not get mad at an unsensational washed up actor who hasn't had a good movie since 1974? And as far as the Muslim plight and stereotyping goes I don't even want to hear it, every nationality has to go through it so they're simply out of luck. If they have a problem with it they can ride the Greyhound.

First off let me say that I think that America has changed a lot since the day of 9/11. Since that day Americans themselves has changed because when it happened Americans stuck together. They helped one another, when people lost their family members everybody was there for them so they wouldn't feel so alone. America has also changed because now they don't really let anybody come into the United States and at air ports we have a really tight system. So I think that is really good.

Over the past few years, in my opinion, America has changed after 9/11 by being more cautions & informed ahead of time to prepare for the worst. also, airports have been strict about transportation. they made a new device where your whole body is scanned to see if you have any weapons on you instead of passing by the medal detectors [even though they still use those today].

America has made a tremendous change, for the better. There has been new security technology and systems that enforce who the rules of who does what, and why. It is no longer easy to come into America legally or illegally from other countries. There are hackers that can tap into any form of wired or wireless communication. The hackers can make warnings based on key words that are said through text messages, phone calls, emails and etc. In my opinion America s more protective and ready for any terrorist attacks.

i think 9/11 airports have started to get pressed about the people they let ride on the air planes for example when my mother my brother and I tok my grandmother to the airport we coulded even tell her goodbye because mt gandmother only had a ticket so we were unable to walk her to the gate where her plane took off so i think airport have got alot stricker since 9/11 happen. This is good and bad for certain reasons

Andre Lowery 4A I think that America has made changes that have made us better as a country but have done things to make outsiders or foriegners not like us which resalted in conflict. For examples we now have homeland security whos job is to protect the American people from threats made against us and have increased our airport security aswell. But we also have declared war against Iraq instead of taking care of our country's other needs. The U.S. needs to "take care of their own backyard" before trying to force another country upon our beliefs. There are still plenty of issues that we need to get under contol such as, the debt that america is in, the high unemployment rate, and the disasters happening in our own country. I think that America needs to fix itself before trying to fix someone else.

America has Changed in so many ways. The security has gotten more strict. We have changed around our whole country because of 9/11. The change has really effected our airports & immigration more so then anything because on Airplanes they check you more, you can't bring liquids on a plane. Immigration wise they have limited the number of immigrants they allow in the country.

America has changed tremendously. The authorities are more serious about their job because they don't want what happened on 9/11 to happen again. People can't be trusted at all because of one disasterous tragedy that didn't have to happen. I think if people worked together and stop stereotyping then this would be a better world to live in.

America has changed ALOT since 9/11 because now if you even look like your from another country they are patting you down when your trying to ride a plane or something. Also 9/11 was unexpected so now security is always going to be on high alert and making sure if you are from another country then you have to take a test. Also we killed their leader so i think it will be a very long time before they try anything eles .

America has changed big time ever since 9/11. Our security has become more tighter and people have become more cautious of their surroundings. They have became more afraid of the war also and realized what are we fighting for if nothing is there. For example when we try to fly out the state security is more cautious of what u have and is searching and strip searching for everything you have. The only thing is now they blame everything on a terrorist and EVERYTHING on a attack

America has changed tremendously since 9/11. Everything from airport security to government intelligence and tactics has improved since then. However everyday things such as traveling on a plane has become a hassle especially to people of different ethnicity mostly middle eastern. 9/11 has made it okay in sense to stereotype and prejudge middle eastern people because of the attacks. How can you blame a whole race of people for a mischievous groups actions? On a better note national unity has increased. Even those who did not lose a loved one mourns at the thought of the many people who did. America is now well equipped, well informed, and prepared if god forbid anything like this is tried again.

There are monitors to see through clothes and bags, and certain things arn't alowed any more. It just seems impossible to sneek anything through. People are way more aware of their surroundings these days. I also think that 9/11 has provided America with fear. Every American wonders if its ever going to be another attack like the one on 9.11.01.

America has changed a lot since 9/11. Security has became more tight and we became more alert. Also the nationalism grew in the U.S. Citizens are proud to be citizens and back up our country. The major change is the economy. Shortly after 9/11 the U.S went into a recession. Our dumb president at the time spent all our money for a non existing war

I agree with statement above^^^^ we are in a recession now because president Bush made us spend all our money on war. Now today lots of people are having hard times finding a job.

America has categorically changed since the birth and tragedy of 9/11. Just the thought of that scary day has stained and permanently scarred the minds of the American people,Government,Congress,Presidents,Laws Enforcement And many, many more. This is not a ordinary day of the week this is an life changing eye-opening event that has feared the minds that this could happen again. But unfortunately because of this fear day has made our country become more annoying and sensitive to things now. But have we changed was the question a hand? And i gladly answer Yes!!We have changed GREATLY for the safety of our people including ourselves, for our protection of the people and for the peace of mind we once had in this Beautiful nation once and still called AMERICA. I feel that because of the 9/11 attack america has become safer and for us as Americans and I also feel the tragedy has improved are security in airports which now makes it safer for americans to travel by planes. The change has really effected our airports & immigration i believe more so then anything because on Airplanes they check you more, you can't bring curtain on a plane. Immigration wise they have limited the number of immigrants they allow in the country.

What makes AMERICA a strong nation is not all because of our bravely and strong army fighting for us, with us, and to defend us. But what makes AMERICA And AMERICANS strong is because when our nation is down, sad,Angry,Upset, and even grieving we the people are their to help lend a helping hand, we stand their to defend and protect eachother and we never bring our nation down but we fight hard to bring it up and when one man is down we all come in to help bring him, them all up.We are For the people,By the people and of the people. And before i close i say America is now well equipped, well informed,Well Defended suited up and ready, and prepared if god forbid anything like this is tried again.

Since 9/11 America has changed tremendously because of this tragic event. Security have been taken extra precautions which some say “unnecessary “when it comes to traveling. Things such as liquids, metal, and steel are flagged in security and sometimes are not permitted past the security check. People are even discriminated against because of their physical traits. After the attack, the government emphasized the importance of our security system, and enhanced it a great deal. People also have finally had some closure when it comes to the loss of their loved ones. Some deaths were never explained, and people were left guessing. 9/11 left America worried about whether if we would be receiving another attack, and who would be behind it. This frantic mentality forced Americans into thinking that they are being safe, but really are turning against eachother.

America has changed since 9/11 because when you go to the airport you will see that the security has alot of rules like you can't bring certian size bottle and any sharp objects. before 9/11 you could bring a 4 in blade, now that crazy. but besides that america really changed.

i think america has really steped up national security because the possibility of it happening again are just as high even if security has increased. i say this because we as a nation sad too say it had to take somethingso drastic and horrible to help us realize we are not untouchable even today when people think of 9/11 /01 we all be come filled with consternation because it can happen again tomorrow without us even expecting it.

Since 9/11, America seems to have made a change for the worst. For a little while right after 9/11, Americans came together to make an effort at being peaceful to one another and focus on finding Sadam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, but those efforts sson died. After 9/11 descrimination and racial profiling came back with almost as strong of a force as it did during the Civil Rights era. Security strenghthened and our economy basically collapsed. INstead of just immediately fixing the problems, Americans did what they usually do and started pointing fingers on the issue. -Stephan Taylor 1A

Many things have changed because of 9/11. Not to long after this tragic event. Home Land Security was announced. Now what this does is protect states against terrorist activity. Specifically, is a concerted national effort to prevent terrorist attacks within the US, reduce America’s vulnerability to terrorism, and minimize the damage and recover from attacks that do occur. Also "ground zero memorial" was built. This memorial is for all of the victims who died in the world trade center. It is located where the towers were and every year families go for their lost loved ones. These are only two things that happened after 9/11 it's many more, this was a life changing event.

Since 9/11, we've become frighten. Now that's good because we've stepped up our security, but a downside to that is that some airports(and people) are persecuting the Muslim and Islamic people because of that fear. In a sense, the terrorists won by inviting terror in our hearts to a point that we terrorize innocent people.

It hard to get alot of people organized as they did and i'm sure they had conflicts but also that they understood what theyh wanted, what they were working for, and that they couldn't get off track, so they didn't necessarily let thier personals get in the way of their job or the big picture.theyh were determinedd, and that is a powerful trait.

America has definitely changed since 9/11. America has provided more security to prevent another tragic event, like 9/11, from happening again. Airports have become more strict in security by having more cameras and more guards. People have changed too because they may be worried of another attack. Even though people come together on the anniversary of 9/11, people are still suspicious of Muslims and Islamics. Even though some of those innocent Muslims and Islamics have been affected by 9/11 too but in two ways. They may have lost a loved one and now they are being personally victimized by airports and other people.
