no i think they shouldn't shoot the police officers because they enter your house illegaly it would be kinda of wrong just to enter peoples homes without permission, the police should ask to enter their home. i guess thats why indian feels violated thatpolice enter while not asking.Jamal Hailey 2B

Indiana passed this law because is so called protects the "police officers" and more gun play will keep the police in check which i dont get at all. this law protects citizens because it gives them a chance to shoot a police officer if they think they dont have the right to enter there house. it endangers the police officers because know they have to worry about getting shoot at for going into a citizens house.i think the law is harmful because it puts the citizens and the police officers in danger of getting killed.

i honestly think that they allowed this law because most of the time. your dealing with dirty cops that try to over come their power.and most police officers that do harm to rightful citizen's can not be found of doing wrong.

To start off who is working in congress to allow them to pass this "law." First, that like homocide in their offense because you are giving them permission to murder, second its just not the smartest thing anyone can think of doing to those officers that arent following the law or the rules of the force. This definetly doesnt protect citizens when you have the citizens killing the people that are there to help protect them when they need it. It endangers the police officers dramatically, at least i think so i mean killing them you cant just let them off with a warning and the next time lay them off (fire them). This law aint gonna prove a doggone thing all it is, is going to make matters worst because you arent goint to have anyone for protection because you killed them all.

Indiana passed this law because of a man that filed a complaint of being followed into his house because of a domestic dispute. This law endangers police officers because most people will end up shooting police just because and they wont be charged because they can claim it being self defense. This can be both be helpful and harmful I guess because the people can defend themselves with weapons and killing someone they think can potentially harm them, and harmful because a numerous amount of officers will be seriously injured or dead.

Indian pass this law so it can help homeowners feel safe from unlawfully officers in their home.it protects citizens because if they feel threaten by a cop in there on home they can shoot the police.its endangering the officer because he can get shot and die on the spot.I think this law isnt gonna be helpful its gonna be harmful because if you shoot enough officers there wont be enough left to call for help.

The law was passs to establish citizens safety and ability to use self-defense against the law. I think the law is not good because some people dont like the law and may use the law just to kill officers. The law makes officers who are doing their job correctly with a warrant feel unsafe and put them in danger. I think the law will do harm because it gives the citizens too much power and makes officers scared to do their.

They passed this law, because they feel as if polices are on your property illegally that you are allow to shoot and kill. It protect citizens there privacy. This endanger officers, because it if a person mistakenly shoots because they feel as if they are on there property illegally they can kill a police officer that was trying help. I think this is going to be harmful because people might want to abuse this law.

1. Why did Indiana pass this law?
- Indiana passed this law in response to a decision made by the Indiana Supreme Court in 2011 that ruled that homeowners do not have the right to use force against law enforcement officals who they believe are illegally entering their homes.

2. How does it protect citizens?
- Officers that abuse their authority will no longer be able to intimidate a citizens inside their homes.

3. How does it endanger police officers?
-A citizen given the chance to shoot an officer and be wrtitten off on it, many of these citizens will take up any opportunity to take their life.

4. Do you think this law is going to prove to be helpful or harmful?
I believe this law will prove to be more harmful than helpful. People are more trigger-friendly nowadays so this won't be much help.

Anonymous said...

Personally i don't GAF about the police because they only seem to pop up when something bad is happening not when you really need them i think indiana passed this law because poilice officals sometimes stick their nose in other peoples business without permission from the head and they end up causing more trouble and then ie and say they were in danger. this law protects ctizens from robbers police officers because f they will allow you to shoot a police officer on certain circumstances then they will allow you to shoot someone who does not belong on your property.police officers are endangered because since some know they can shoot they will get trigger happy and smoke them. this law could turn out helpful or harmful depending on how thee officers are and how the citizens react

I think indana passed this law because to make sure that others are safe and if that means useing a gun and to make them feel safe as well and to protect citizens. I do also think this put cops in danger because then they will feel as if they could kill a cop over simple things. This law would be harmful i think the death rate of cops will then go up in numbers

Anonymous said...

I Personally think that indiana passed this law because of how the police would treat the people. The citizens now know that they can defend thierselves without being punished. The police are now endangered because of how some citizens take how they treat them. This law can be helpful, now most of the people will defend themselves if they feel like the officer is doing something he/she wouldnt usually do.

Indiana passed this law to scare away officers that may be unlawfully on their property but I also think that this might be a way for criminals to pose a threat on officers who are simply trying to make an arrest or enter a home to search it. This law doesn't really protect citizens because you rarely hear about a police officer entering a home unlawfully and killing the citizens inside. If a police officer enters your home without a warrant there is probably a good reason but if that's a problem for people then they should request a warrant before allowing the officers into their home. I think this law is going to be harmful for officers because if citizens feel endangered and have permission to gun down an officer on their property this law will be taken advantage of.

The Indiana’s passed this law i believe because people didn’t have any privacy and police would just bust in their house unannounced. Some people would say that it’s disrespectful but if they feel that something’s not right their going to do their job. This law protects citizens by feeling comfortable i their home and that’s about it. This law endangers police officers because by them doing their job and helping others that may be in danger can get their life taken just by going on somebodies property and they can get away with murder. I think this law is harmful because there could be 100 dead bodies in that house and if you go on that person’s property they are allowed to shoot you without being arrested.

It is harmful however, because they police can get shot running into someone house

India had passed this law because They believe it should help protect civillians against officers who put them in a position where they should defend themselves. It gives a citizen the right to shoot or kill a. Officer who enters their property or house. It endangers them because people can abuse this right and shoot them at their own leisure. It can be helpful but if it gets out of control it will get harmful.

yes , they should be able to shoot the police , but only under certain circumstances . if they feel as though they are being violated , or feel threatened in any way , then yes . they should be able to because , they are coming in without permission , and trespassing on their property . So technically trespassing on property without permission is illegal , so they should be able to do as they please because it's their property !

This is just plain ignorant, What kind of authority would agree to such a thing. To give a person the right to shoot a poice officer just because they "think" they dont have a warrent is dumb. Atleast they should say that the person doesnt have one. Otherwise people will just take advantage of this. Like a guy beating his wife would (in the example). It wouldn't be fair in any circumstance. This law puts poilce officers in more danger than they already have to face daily.

This is just stupid. People are gonna take every advantage they have to kill a officer. It doesn't matter what the situation is somebody will find any reason to kill a officer. If you feel that the officer is a bad cop then you should report them not just shoot them. This would be a complete waste of a bill.

Indiana passed this law because they wanted home owners to defend them selfs from unnesassary police home raids. this endangers police officers by having officers have a high chance of getting shot at because people can abuse this law because you cant tell the diffrence between a officer with a warrant and one without. this law is more harmful because it can increase police death rates due to citizens that abuse this law.

Danae NayNay said...

Indiana passed this law because of an incident when a police officer followed this man and his wife in a domestic dispute. So they passed this in response of that. The way it does protect citizen is that the police just can't search your house without a warrant. It endangers police officers because they can't do their job anymore which is to protect the people. They can't help another person out of a bad situation if another person has a gun and has the right to shoot the officer. This is just a crazy thing they have passed. I think this law is going to be harmful because since they have the right to kill police officers people are going to kill them for no reason and the officers lives are more endanger which is ridiculous to say and hear. I hope and pray for the best for those officers and hope that their blood is shed in honor but not in vain.

William Majette 3B said...

Indiana passed this law to give homeowners the right to protect themselves from police officers that are illegally on their property or illegally enter their homes.
It protects citizens rights to the 4 amendment.
This endangers police officers because even though they may not illegally enter a home they can still get shot. Fortunately, that person will be in jail but that police officer will be dead like Representative Craig Fry and Linda Lawson said.
This law is harmful because many police will die even if they are legally or illegally on someone's property. This law will probably also make officers resign from the Indiana police department.

Jarrel Bailey said...

I think that Indiana passed this law because they believe that their is a such thing as dirty cops and their rights were being violated. That is a good thing to me, you have to listen to both sides of the story. I believe that if people keep telling you that they keep getting beating by police officer then they cannot all be lying. You have to believe in your people and make a change some how and some way and this is they way they did. This protects our citizens by letting them not just take a beating from a cop. More cops will be getting hurt. I believe that this law can be more helpful because I believe that there are such things as dirty cops.

Indiana Passed This Law Because They wanted Legal Home Owners To Feel Safe In Any Form Of Way Therefore They Made It legal To Do This But In Any other State. Therefore Indiana Made it legal. Basicly It Says To the home owners its okay to shoot a cop in your own house though becuase thats trespassing. It Says to the police becareful because if you just as walk into someones house you will get shot and the police will back them up. Yes it is harmful to the police and they should go back on this law becuase alot of lives are at steak now.

This law is going to prove to be harmful not helpful.

Indiana passed this law to help police and homeowners. I say this because if a police officer comes on your property to beat you for no reason like your color then you have the right to shoot them. Or if they do shoot you then the police have no right to shoot back but they could which could also help them if they do get shot. I believe that this law is going to become harmful because it gives the people in Indiana to shoot police officers for being on their property.

Anonymous said...

I think they passed this law because the citizens were probably being abused for no reason by the police. Honestly I dont know if this is a smart law seeing that the citizens can shlot them just to he shooting them, but if the police are randomly jusy beating on the citizens then maybe. To be honest the government should just step in and stop it completly instead of letting the citizens take matters into their own hands because it may get out of control.

I think this is a endangerment to police officers because someone could kill them just because they was doing wrong and got caught. This law could be helpful and harmful, for example it could help stop cops who take advantage of there power and it could harm cops and put them in jeopardy of being killed for arresting someone who was disobeying the law and decided to kill a cop so they would not get in trouble.

It is not the intent of the law that is in question, it is that the wording of the law does not limit it to those protecting themselves from illegal police activities. It does not require that the police actually be in violation of the law, only the the individual "believe" that the police do not have a legal right to come on to their property. A more cogently and narrowly written bill would be more acceptable. Juan R 3B

From the article, Indiana might have passed this law to give the people more rights and maybe to keep the police in their place to only fight crime outside of a person's home. With this law no citizens were being protected because this law fights against the police officers from entering the home of the citizens which give the people the power to start any crime in their home and able to kill a police officer that enters his or her home which could also protect more criminals. This law endangers police officers by giving the people the right to kill police officers if the police enters a person's home unlawfully and which help people avoid prison with the power of this law. This law is going to prove to be harmful since this law would produce more crime and deaths of people and police officers and with this law less criminals would be put into prison which might start a riot of citizens towards the state government and a repel of this law.

It's what they diverse anyway for bribing you! Get'em!

Indiana passed this law so citizens can be protected from the police illegally stepping in the house or threatening them. It protects citizens because it is illegal for the police to threaten them, and this endangers police officers because it gives more power to the citizens thinking that they can do whatever they want without getting into trouble.

As a result, this law is prove to be harmful because it gives citizens the power to attack a police officer and they can't do anything to stop them from doing that. With that said, there would be more deaths with citizens and police officers than ever before.

Indiana passed this law to give citizens the right to shoot a police officer that has trespassed their property without a warrent. It protects the citiezens because if they are doing something illegal and a police officer barges in without a warrent then they can shoot him and get away with it. It puts the officers in danger because they are getting killed for no reason at all. I don't think this law is helpful because we need all the police we can get so that the world is more safe.

Indiana passed this law so police officers could not abuse their authority or enter homeowner's property unlawfully. I think it protects citizens because they have the right to defend themselves if police are being malicious for no apparent reason. This law endangers police officer's in many way's that's why in a way i don't agree with this because some people simply do not like police officers and would do anything to hurt them for no reason just for the satisfaction of it. Indiana passed this law because of a supreme court case ruling in 2011. This protects citizens by giving us the right to shoot anyone on our property. It endangers police officers because they could walk up to the door and be killed. This law is going to be helpful because sometimes it is none of the police officers business and they need to stay out of peoples house, they can't come up in my house, I will kill them. Shoot, I am moving to Indiana then I will invite a police officer and then I will kill them.

The law does protect the citizens to a certain point. If a person is in danger of being robbed or in a position of being killed or harmed by a policeman then yes they should be able to shoot at the policeman. The law is both harmful and helpful. It is helpful because now that citizen feels more protected and are able to defend their self to a higher position. It is harmful because they can kill a police that probably came to their house just to talk but switch their words and say that the policeman tried to kill them or harm them.

This law protects citizens from things like unlawful bearings by police because now they can protect themselves with out having to worry about police officers lying and saying that the citizens just assaulted them point blank and without a testimony from the citizens. It does harm police officers just off the fact that a someone who is actually doing something wrong can say the police officer ran in his with out warrant so he shot him in self defense but in all honesty he just shot the officer to get away. This law has more flaws then positives outcomes to it so I think it should not be a universal law

Indiana passed this law because they want to protect the rights of the citizens in the event that a corrupt or unlawful officer forcefully enters their home and they protect themselves. This law was conceived with good intentions as some officers get swelled egos and think that they can do what they want to whomever. However this law can also be flipped on the generally good cops who need to act upon trigger happy criminals who flee to their homes. This law can easily help a civilian as much as it can hurt law enforcement.

This protects citizens because if you have a officer who is just being hard on you for no reason and threatens you heres the right for you to protect yourself. This law is harmful to officers because if you dont mean to get a citizen mad and he does get mad he just might smoke you.[lol] this might be helpful and harmful at the same time so I am really in the middle of what side to take here.

I think it is a great law 2 years ago my dog and me suffered from police brutality we were in the yard playing when he walked up asked me simple questions about speeding cars my dog barked in excitement and walked up to the officer then he shot him me and the officer argued we sat there for 5 minutes but during that time i could have been saving my dog then i was put under arrest for resisting arrest when i tried to pick up my dog thank god my neighbor took her to the hospital
