i feel like if it's something that really did something bad then they should get suspended for it but not for stupid things like for being late. but if it for fighting vandalism then yeah they should, but not for dumb things - jamal hailey 2B
I think that instead of getting home suspension, they should have an in school suspension. Were the student can do the work and be focused at school. Without any distractions at home. I think getting suspended for fighting is okay. I disagree with suspension with class disruption, and insubordination. If the student didn't want to do something the teacher asked then I don't think the teacher should suspended him for insubordination. I disagree with getting expulsion over one fight or walking the halls or any of that, he or she would have to do something very very bad for him to get an expulsion.
I think that we should just stick to in school suspensions instead of home school suspension because then the student would be more focused instead of goofing off at home. If the matter is seriously that bad then you should expell the student. After that leave it to the police to handle the rest of the illegal matters.

i think that suspension is not a good method to use because when a student gets suspended that causes them to get even more off track. missing work, missing instructions and teaching. i dont think its worth the childs education. i do think there can be other alternatives, MMMM.. maybe ones less servere, i think in school suspension could work. The article stated that not all schools use suspension as a method, i think students in those schools are more likely to succeed, they dont ever have to worry about missing something unless they are skipping or adsent. i also think that in some cases suspension can be good. it all depends on the situatuion, im kinda two sided about it.

I THINK IT DOES ENDANGERS KIDS FUTURE BECAUSE WHEN YOUR ON OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSION IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FINISH YOUR WORK SO I FEEL THAT THEY SHULD MOSTY USE IN SCHOOL SUSPENTON UNLESS U DO SUMTHIN DRASTIC. i think that the school system should only suspend someone for something serious because it makes it hard for students to catch back up and get all their work done and someone should only get expelled for something that harms the whole school

i think that students should only get home suspension if they have caused alot of trouble like fighting or vandalism.But if a student is just disobeying and being distruptive then they should just get in school suspension because they can stay focused and actually do thier work..

"Suspension" and "Expulsion" differs between the school child and administrators or teachers and of teachers and people in charge take things out of proportion and they are kicking students out for inappropriate reason that can be solved in a different matter, or way. I think that students that do things that aren't that important or necessary to suspend kids for should be a milder punishment such as in-school suspension or something more reasonable.
Michael West 4A I think it is wrong if you suspend a student a give them a failing grade even though they deserve it. That just makes them not want to do work because they get in trouble and get back to school their grades are really low and when they get home they get in trouble because of it.
I believe lack of suspenions could effect the quality of educations. If students who cause trouble aren't taking care of, they'll continue do so, effecting people around them.

Yo its @legend_Allure. I think this just sets kids up for failure. They should be behaving, but putting them outta school is just endangering the future leader of this country.but at the same token kids should know how to act.
I think that the suspension's and expulsion's are endangering the students future because when they want to go to a certain college the college's are going to look at them as if they are a troubled child and they are going to get into trouble while they are on there campus. I really can't think of any other alternative's for being suspended. Inthink that suspending the kids is effecting the quality of eduacation because the kids are not learning anything while they are sitting at home watching TV, playing video games, and talking on the phone. Some of the things kids are getting suspended for like bring late to class, walking out the classroom etc. thats just putting the kids into a deeper hole than what they are already in and they won't be able to get themself's out of. I think that out of school suspension is a bit over board because while at home the child can be easily distracted or overwhelmed with the enviorment also while out of school they lose out on getting classwork done x learning something new so when they come back they'll be confused on the work that they are doing also they would be behind in alot of missed work and the grade drops.
But i think the school should handle discpline in another positve way so the child could get theyre education just like everyone else.

Keeping students away from the learning environment by suspending them definitely puts them in danger. Sure they could get plenty of make up work but it doesn't satisfy the need of understanding the concept or foundation of that particular lesson. Although if that child/student is serious about their grades they would be willing to ask for additional help and take advantage of afterschool hours. Suspension and expulsion to me is serious and should only be used against a student for a serious purpose such as use of drugs, carrying harmful weapons, or gambling on school property. Fighting, etc .. Could be handled differently and a great solution could possibly be peer mediation.

My opinion is that students shouldn't have to be suspended just to enhance discipline.Yes suspending students endangers there future, because when there out of school there missing out on a lot of information and it is hard for them to get back on track.Yes there is another option instead of suspension, there should just be and in-school suspension and there still in school and getting all there work done so it wont come in late.No because there going to be in class away from the troublemakers. Yes and No the lack of suspensions could effect the quality of learning because if there still in the class they can be disrupting the class and that could effect the other students learning.

My opinion is it is once then no they should not get suspended. But if it continues then yes they should be suspended, because they are taking it to a certain extent. Now disrupting class no. You do not know the childs reason for doing it. They could have ADHD something happening at home etc. Back to fighting though like i said if it continues than yes expellsion is necessary because they are takiing school as a boxing match instead of focusing on their work. SOme teachers take things out of hand and try to get the student suspended for no reason. Of course they are going to take the teachers side before the student because they are the adult. But their has been sometimes that the reason was not that bad that a child has got suspended for such nonsense and foolishness.
What would be another option other than suspension. Yes, suspension does affect a childs future especially with colleges and jobs, but the child also needs to understand that their actions are not acceptable in school and outside of school.There is a "catch 22" within this controversy. Giving out suspensions hurts the education of students, as they miss class discussions and lessons. On the other hand not giving out suspensions could lead to excessive violence, for kids will think that there will not be a punishment for their actions.
Schools should have various programs for kids with conflicts.

I think this is just plain stupid . Why get expelled for one fight and the fight is not extreme ? I understand if it caused extreme damage to the person or the school . And also I don't understand suspending someone for being disrespectful to a teacher . Sometimes teachers deserve it , but the student should get a PS74 and if you get a lot of those then get suspended . Too many suspensions and expulsion looks very bad for a high school .

I think suspension for a certain cause is right. Like for stealing school property and bullying. I also think that in school suspensions shall take place in more school so whom who is suspended can do there work instead missing the whole day or days of school. I don't think the lack of suspensions doesn't effect our schools effect the quality of educations.
In my opinion yes I do think getting suspended from school for a length of time does endanger students future because many colleges applications ask you have you been suspended or dismiss from school. also you highschool transcripts follow you as you apply for jobs. also students are missing classwork and discussion while they are gone. however schools do need to find other alternatives for troublemakers so there will be away for them to still be in classroom and learn. on the other hand students do need to realize that them getting suspended is jepordizing (spell check) there future

I think suspending students from school is dumb because they are missing the educateion that they missed from being suspended. Plus sometimes students gettin suspended for no reason or a stupid reason like being late for class or walking around or even for saying the wrong thing little stuff can get you suspended now a days and i know because i got suspended and missed school for stupid reasons ..

I Think that if we went with my Bill that Suspending students wouldn't be even in the question but thats just me . now suspended and expelling students for fighting is dumb becos they are missing school its different if they go home for like a day but all these suspensions be lasting for like 10 days etc ! i mean its kinda a contradiction when the principals and teachers say oh i want you to make it somewhere in life i want you to go to college but you guys are the ones suspending us for the dumbest reasons . but then again how are we gonna learn so i think it could go both ways .

Suspending a child will only make things worse,stopping the fight will make things worse. If you stop a fight the person that "lost" may feel as though he would have won if the fight continued. Thus causing multiple altercations between the two or even more students getting involved. The student or students should just be sent home for the day thats all. It may disturb students in class but it will end quicker if the students fight it out right then and there.

Suspensions harm students. While your suspended, you miss out on lectures and you miss out on learning new material. Then you when you com back, your behind and have to catch up. Instead of suspensions there should be lunch duty, in school, and detention or something. Suspensions only harm students.
i feel that this is not a good way to go about things, it may teach some children a lesson but not all. just look at it, if youre always getting suspended youre not going to want to go anymore because its going to feel like youre always getting targeted as well as youre going to miss a lot of education. if you miss too much you will stay back and if you miss too many days of school you will stay back for that too. it may work for some kids but not all i really do not support this one, sorry.

Kids getting held back from too many suspension and getting in trouble more shocker.No not really this study didn't seem to prove anything to me.If a child is suspended from school there a certainly not learning anything or learning there lesson.If they miss out on school they don't care but if they were suspended and the parents would be forced to home-school there child.We might see a better outcome out of all this.

Kids who get suspended obviously do not care about the value of their education. A teacher should not waste their time on a student who does not want to learn. It is the teachers job to give the information and the students job to do the work and obtain the information. Plus the disruptive kids can distract all the other kids who want to learn so if the distractions are suspended maybe they will learn they're lesson and turn things around so that everybody can learn.
The consequences do endanger the students future. If they are always suspended outside of school, its no way they can get all the information they need to excell in classes.Lack of suspensions could effect the quality of educations because more students would succeed i school if they didnt get suspended for every little thing.

I think the suspension and expulsion do effect the students future. I think it effects the students future because they miss valuable school lessons and work. They never get to learn the work over or with any help. There are other ways to discipline students. You could have mandatory detention, make them clean up, and meetings with the student. All the students going is go home and relax, they not getting no better being at home and out of school. Sending a students home is only making them less likely not to succeed in this already harsh world. This will not effect the other students because they would not be the ones getting the consequences.

I think that suspension is not worth it because here its ust a 5 day vacation. Yea it goes on our transcripts but we get to make up the work and raise our grades back to the way it was before we left. Also i thin that if you fight it should be the person who threw the irst punch that gets suspeneded becausse most of the time it is self defense ans why should the one that got hit first go home as well .

i think there should be a nationwide or statewide suspension scale. this would eliminate all of the confusion. I also think that suspension may not always be the best choice because more than likley the student does not want to be in school anyways. alson, if the child doesnt like school he/she will constantly get suspended anyway. this may lead to them being in jail. the article said that students who get suspended are more likely to feed into the juvenille system.

Suspension does endanger a students future. It could make the students find something bad to do while they are suspended because they are not in a safe environment. Another alternative other than suspension is detention, lunch duty, or a parent conference. The alternative would not affect the students that are not troublemakers. Suspensions could affect the quality of education because students wouldn't be there to learn what the others have learned. Lack of suspensions would not effect the quality of education because you would spend more time learning. Many people from similar schools have very different suspension rates. .

I do not think that suspensions endanger the students'future. The student does it. The only reason the statistics are what they are is because suspension does not work. Even though the child was punished, they turned out to get in more trouble. That is because obviously, suspension does not work. You stay at home for three days, wake up late, no homework, and sit in front of the television all day. If that does not scream fun, I do not know what does. I would rather that any day. What the children don't understand is that their school records go a long way and can hinder them. I do not believe that other alternatives endanger the students who are not troublemakers. Those students committted the same thing that a troublemaker committed. The punishment must remain the same.
Making suspension one of the effects of mis-behaving in school can be dreadful to a students reputation and education. But it also shows them the consequences of one's actions. It shows them that everything you do will affect you in some way, and that they should be a better student because of it. It does make students take a look back and understand that they shouldn't allow a simpe fight to make them loose of on school work. So yes, i do think its a good punishment as long as what they did goes along with it .

This Doesnt endanger the student because the student is the one who makes the decision. not the prinicple so basically this isnt making the student feel any type of way , its basically showing them that what they do has consequences.
