I think the idea of giving pregnant women special treatment is a very good one. I do not think that being pregnant is a disabiity even though pregancy has some of the same effects as other disablities. To make pregnancy easier for women, there should be laws. These laws shoud pertai8n to parking spots, fair treatment at jobs, pubic gtransportation, and situations of this nature.

Personally, I Think Pregnancy Is Actually A Disability, Because Being Pregnant Disables A Female To Do Certain Stuff. She May Be Sick And Cant Move As Fast As She Usually Can, And Also Might Be In Pain. Creating Laws That Help Support Pregnant Women, By Giving Them A Pardon. Who's To Say That You Cant Get Pregnant, Because It Will Interfere With Work? I Say If You Want To Have A Baby, While Your Employed, Then Do So. (Tyrone Koehler-Jones 2A)

I think pregnant women do need special treatment, but that does not mean they are disabled. Yeah they get sick, throw up, and may get a little pain at times, but that is something normal every women goes through at some time. I do think they should make laws to make pregnancy easier for those who are pregnant. (Yanci Montiel 1B)

I do think that pregnancy should be apart of the Americans with Disablities Act. I think this because different women go through different things. Some women have no problems with thier pregnancy and some women do, and it is unfair to the women that have complications during their pregnancy. The women that have complications need extra days of so they can do everything they can to prevent further complications. So I do think that they should add pregnancy to tje Americans with Disablities Act.

I think the idea of giving pregnant women diability is a great idea. Nobody really knows what a pregnant women goes through until they have actually been pregnant. They need to do everything they have to do in order to bring their baby into the world healthy and with no problems. Now you have to think about when your mother was pregnant with you would you want her to be treated like a regular person and do regular things NO. atleast not for them 9 monthes - Da'Von Williams 1-B

I think this should be allowed because the amount of activity a pregnant women bare is limited but this is only temporary so therefore this is a minor disability. This may not be a disability because this is a decision someone made to be i the condition.

i am agreeing with YESSS! because pregnant women like the article said have to go nine months without working, its also hard for them to do things because of the conditions they are in. this act is supposed to be for people that have a disabilites, thou this women may not be disabled for life like others but they deserve that kinda of attention for the nine months they are pregnant and even a while after so they have a oppurtunity to get back on thier feet. this would be a very good thing it could also reduce the amount of people on our walfare list.

Yes it is, Pregnant people cannot walk normal or act such as others act, for example mood swings come with the pregnancy and you can't blame them for being an emotional pregnant person.

Pregnancy is not a disability, but it has many restrictions and limitations. For example, when a woman is pregnant, she can only bend over to a certain extent, she has to watch her diet, and she cannot participate in too many demanding physical activities. I believe that pregnancy is a very beautiful thing. Woman will always have my respect for the hardships that come along with pregnancy.

I think the idea of adding Pregnancy to the ADA is a very good idea, because pregnant women can't do a whole lot of stuff because of the development of a child in there body so if they add them to the ADA then they will definitely have a excuse so certain activities and get benefits for them being pregnant.

People with disabilities usually don't have a choice. Being pregnant is a choice and should not be called a disability. Yes, you should get better treatment being pregnant because you are bringing another human being in this earth. The stomach pains and throwing up is really just a price you have to pay if you want a family. Saying that it is a disability takes this whole subject into a different place.

Pregnancy is definitely not a disability. It has many limitations and restrictions. However, being pregnant should not prevent you from working. Making pregnancy a disability would insult the real disabilities like the hearing and visually impaired.

In my opinion I think that pregnancy in a way should be a classified as a disability because some women may lose there jobs due to their pregnancy and people should understand that they aren't able to work because of thier pregnancy but in other hand it shouldnt be classified as a disability because some women may take advantage of that privilege and decide not to show up at work..

pregenecy is a disablity because you're not able to do a lot of things because certain things can affect the babie so you're not able to do it. so yeah it's a disablity. Jamal hailey 2B

a woman is pregnant for nine months and within those nine months her mood and body changes.

I don't think being pregnant is a disability but i do think that giving pregnant women special treatment is a good idea because you are very limited in movement and things you can accomplish when you are pregnant this is only for nine months and don't think it would hurt to let the preggo lady's have some slack.

Yes I do think pregnancy is an disabilities because pregnant woman cant do for them selves when there pregnant. They cant walk right are constantly going to bathroom. That is an disability.

My opinion is actually confusded. Because not all woman take pregnancy as a disablity. Some woman actually still go to work cook, clean, etc. and act as if nothing had happened. It would be nice if it was a disablity though because woman would need more help now that they are with child. They do not walk the same and they also go through mood swings. Some get so heavy they need a scooter to get around. It will help them reatly if they mad it a disablity.

Yes I think Pregnancy can be classifies as a disability because pregnant women go through different this that people that are not pregnant. they sometimes have shortness of breath they cant really walk far swollen feet ECT. for example a pregnant women goes to the grocery store and the parking lot is filled but handicap spaces are open i think the pregnant women has the right to park in the handicap spot because she shouldnt be walking to far

To go through a pregnancy is very tough especially if you are alone through out the whole nine 9 months. Pregnancy can come with a lot of serious conditions that could affect the baby as well as the mother. Pregnancy should'nt necessarily be considered a dissability because most pregnancies are planned and or kept if not. A dissability is more of something you are either born with or, given in a tragic accidednt. Because a dissability is not a choice and doesnt create something beautiful afterwards, pregnancy should not be in that catagory. I do believe that women should get a break becasue of the things they go through while carrying a child.

I wouldnt Say that pragnancy is a full disabilty but it mite be one because of how pregnancy affects a women. its not a full disabilty because you can still function and you only pregnant for 9 months but jobs should take it in consideration that women do need longer breaks when they are pregnant.

I say that pregnancy is a full disability. I say yes because there are certain things that you cant do when your pregnant. You can still function and pregnancy only lasts nine months. When you are pregnant and alone it can be really hard on that person. If you do things that you aren't suppose to do it can have a negative affect on your baby.

I do understand that pregnant women have a harder time being able to do things and certain things I do think should be allowed because of how tough it is on these women but to say that they are disabled isnt quite the term. Besides there are always those people who feel as though they deserve this and in a way abuse their powers. It would be a good thing for the pregnancy because it would relieve stress and that would be good for the baby. I am split on this issue i cant say qwether i am for it or against it.

Being pregnant is not a disability its a blessing to many women that can't have children of there own or its hard to get pregnant. Also not every pregant woman gose throw al the pregnacy side effects like my mom for example she told me once that the only time she had a side effect was of my lil sis. My mom at time when she brushed her teeth thru up but that was rare. My mother got tiered easyly due to my sis being a big baby, since my mom was very careful not to eat junk food, candy or drink soda. My mother worked till it was close to her due date and still has her same job. My mom got a sorta.of a special treatment at her job since she was prego. I think that women should get a special treatment at their jobs while there prego and can't do much.

I believe that the idea of giving pregnant women special treatment is good . being pregnant is a disability unless something happens during her pregnancy. there should be some laws / rules like if somebody pregnant they have there own lane in stores because i know there back be hurting when they standing in a long line and etc laws /rules should be made -taqiyyahrecio

I agree with absolutely, because its a hard time for a women to be pregnant. She gains weight, she very emotional, tried, morning sickness. This could be a disabling to a women. But this temporary for 9 month and not every pregnancy is same. So some are hard and other easy.

Pregnancy can be considered a disability but I wouldn't call it that. People with real disability's couldn't help that fact they are that way. I'm not saying pregnancy is a bad thing but you could have controlled that. Also pregnancy only last 9 months. Some disability's that people have are for forever.

Of Coarse because even though they are pregnant,,woman cant do as much as a woman thats not pregnant its a hard for a women to be pregnant. The woman has extra weight,, and all the other symptoms the contribute to a woman being pregnant.

To me ,pregnancy should be a disability.Pregnant women are often sick , and having to miss work and other normal activities they would be able to do if they werent pregnant.I think they should be on disability until after the baby is born.

I agree that pregnancy is a natural disability, because you are heavily hindered because of it; emotionally and physically, and to have no legal protection to cover this until now is odd. The very beginning of the article supports my reasonings: "...expectant moms need legal protection so the strains of pregnancy don't cost the, their jobs."

I believe pregnacy should be recognized as a disability. Although woman can choose to be pregnant or not im very sure they wouldnt choose to have the horrible side affects that come with it.So i side with the absolutely side. Disabilities that have similar affects as pregnancy are regonized so why shouldnt pregnancy its just being fair. Linda Sharp said that pregnancy is a "healthy condition" but its not for each and everybody calling it a disability would probably ensure that it is a healthy condition for every one.

I think pregnancy should be considered a disability. Because women can not do all the things they did while they were not pregnant and still have a healthy baby. You have to also realize women go to work to suppose there baby and make sure they have a stable household and clothes. So, through there pregnancy they should have the right to do what ever is necessary to keep them and there baby healthy. I don't think nobody would want to be the blame of a unhealthy child being brought unto this world. This is my thoughts on adding pregnant women to ADA.

I do think pregnancy should be a disability. When you are pregnant you cant do all the things you did before you got pregnant. While they are at work, they should be able to do whatever they need to do to have a healthy baby. Being pregnant is a good thing, but it has its disadvantages.

I absolutely think that pregnancy is considered a disability because pregnant women can't do the same or as much as women who aren't. Some stores don't let these women have the breaks that they need to make sure they are ok. Like it said in the article women are losing their jobs because they have to take time off from there pregnancy and that's not fair to them. I think that when a pregnant women is working she should get some benefits from her jobs and make sure that she doesn't lose her job because of that. An example is a women was pregnant and she had her baby, then, when she came back somebody has her job. That's not fair at all so you should make it part of the act to guarantee their rights even if they are pregnant.

Anonymous said...

I Absolutely believe that pregnancy is a disability. Being pregnant enables you to do certain things that other people can do. Pregnant women need certain breaks and rest so working any job is a struggle for them. If they are fired because they need to take days off because of pregnancy then that is totally unfair.

In my opinion pregnancy is a disability and pregnant women should get special treatment just like the disabled. Women that are pregnant have aches and pains, that hinder them from completing certain tasks or getting from one place to another. I do believe the American Disabilities Act should be extended to pregnant women so that they can be treated properly, and be taken care of the proper way. Disabled parking spaces is one of the main things that needs to be extended to pregnant women so that they dont have to walk long distances. So yes i agree that pregnant women should be placed in the American Disabilities Act.

Pregnancy i believe is a disability because i experience this disability everyday my mother is pregnant and its hard for her to move & get around let alone walk upstairs & do normal stuff around the house if pregnant people cant do that then how would you expect them to walk from the last parking space in the parking lot at the grocery store.

Anonymous said...

I believe pregnancy is a disability because they cant really do anything by themselves anymore like they used to. I think it would be a good idea for pregnant women to get special treatment just like other people with disability problems because their are a lot of symptoms when being pregnant. some symptoms get so bad to when they cant even walk.
