Crossing the Line or Saving Lives?
One big arguement that Americans are constantly debating is whether we want a big government that is highly involved in our lives or a smaller government that lets us make our own decisions. Some say we need a larger government to help us out when we are in trouble, to support us with things like Medicare, Social Security, Welfare, and Unemployment. Others say that government is too powerful when it is able to make laws about how we live our lives and that is should focus on only the bigger picture. This article is a good example of this everlasting battle:

I think that we would need a bigger government for problems such as Medicare, and to give money back to the countries and in order to have the government back on track and get us of a recession.

I think that it would benefit us to have a larger government for problems such as Social Security and Unemployment. As more problems become more common, the solution should fall into a more important catagoery. With STD's beoming a bigger problem, mandatory STD vaccinations could reduce the spread of it.

We don't know for a fact what is being put in are systems.The government administers std's anyway.We should have a smaller gov't but people proved they could not take care of themselves so the gov't is trying to take over their lives.The bigger the government the more america leads into a dictatorship not a democracy.The people that really run America hides from us.we always here about officials doing this and that but we don't see their faces.The government makes me sick literally all of u should eat organic food.The gov't is run by satan and if we the people don't act we will be acted on.
Disaster will come next year from a CME.If u want to know what a CME is do research the gov't wont tell either every man for them self
I think that we should keep a large government because having a little government will only cause chaos. We as a people can not make decisions because we all have different views, we wouldn't be able to agree on a decision.

What Langston P. ^^ said sounds crazy but in my opinion some of it is true. We really dont know what is being put in the vaccine, all but what "scientist" are telling us. If there's actually something in it their not mentioning then neither I nor a high percentage of our people wont know. If the U.S Goverment was capable of testing drugs that were harmfull to people (under TOP SECRET) and actually killed alot of them, who knows what they could do now. But what Rep. Michele Bachmann said about the Vaccine causing "mental retardation" is totally out of the picture. She clearly dissagrees with the whole issue, but i think her opinion goes farther ... Like she might have used that to cover her real opinion on why it shouldnt be used.

I believe that having a larger government for problems such as Social Security and Unemploymentit would beneficial us to . As more and more problems become relatively common, the solution should fall into a deeper and more important/serious category. With STD's sky rocketing out the roof it has become a major problem, and mandatory STD vaccinations could possible reduce the of people being affected by worldly spreaded virus. But I don't believe making it mandatory should be the only option because i think that if people want to cure to slow down the rate of the virus then they would get it on their own expense not being focused. Cause if then that means the government is having to much power.

I believe that a bigger government is necessary in today's world. There are constantly issues that deal with people having the right to proper medicine and healthcare. Everyone in today's world cannot be independent, people need the support of the government in order to live a positive life. A bigger government that has control and provides support is definently better and needed.
i think we should have a bigger government because it would solve a lot of problems like getting better input on different problems in the economy today. Also i think we should have a smaller government because we could get a lot of decisions made very quickly.

I can't decide whether it is better to have a bigger government or a smaller one. Having a larger government would be helpful in getting decisions out faster.But this sometimes leads to corruption. "The HPV vaccine has been shown to be safe and well-tolerated based on multiple medical reports that have been submitted through government databases,".There are still doesn't mean it is safe some people can still have side effects from the vaccine.A smaller government however isn't very good ether. Decision take longer to decide but at least opinion about things is more open.
I think that the government should worry about working together right now instead of focusing on making its self larger. The government is not working together as it is, so if they add more people to it then it will just cause more chaos. But if the government was working together it would not be a bad thing to make it larger. I Say this because if they were working together there would probally be more curse for different disease, because of their ability to work together. There would also be less people on wellfare, and less peopel out in the street. So when they work together as one then they should focus on whether they should be come larger or stay the same.

We should not make our own rules because so people rules might be bad and we might have lose social security,welfare,and unemployment.

i dont think our government should be bigger because that mean its going to take more votes to decide things and the government is not really concerned on std medicines because they think the way you caught it they caused it on thier self they are more worried about finding cures for serious diseases like cancer abd medicines for things such as std later while looking for cures

In america, the government has already set rules and regulations on our life which sometimes holds us back from reaching certain potential. in order to run a peaceful nation, they have gave us some rights where we are able to voice our opinion and choose who we would want to be in charge. In doing this the people of america have a sense of security and power. I believe that we should have either a smaller government, or the size we have now. the only problem that makes us think about the size of our system, would be there organization as well as the decision making. The size of the government should not matter when it comes to aiding citizens with medicare, welfare and other financial contributions.

I think that the same type of government we have now should stay in existence because yes there are some faults but it been this way for while and i don't think they control us to much.As far as our medical health choices i don't think they should make any vaccines mandatory.Many people have enough common sense to know they are not invincible and if they are worried about their health they will get that vaccine but we should not be forced to do something concerning our personal health.
I believe that having a bigger government will be beneficial for us. A big government helps us out with things such as medicare and umemployment. A smaller government couldnt meet the concerns of all the citizens of the United States beecause it would just be too many people for them to attend. As far as mandatory STD vaccinations, i think this will help the society. zthe STD rate has been a major problem lately and this should control the spread of the disease. If the vaccinatons wernt mandatory, many people wouldnt do it. When Rick Perry made his HPV Vaccine law, Jessica Honke, policy director for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia, said "This is not a political issue -- it's a public safety issue." The government made this law because they was concerned about our health and they know a way to stop the spread of the disease.
I Dont think the it should be mandatory to get a STD vaccination because that is someones personal life. And why is it that only females have to get. if its mandatory shouldnt all people get the vaccination. One lady said her daughter suffered from MENTAL RETARDATION.. after getting the vaccination. I think TX is over stepping there boundaries
I think a bigger government would be beneficial to our society. There are many problems and issues going on in the world today that bigger government will help solve or come up with a solution. for example the unemployment rate is high, a bigger government comes up with the idea of welfare to help the society with financial problems to those who are less fortunate. As for the Std vaccine shot i think it is helpful to our society with all the disease out here.

I think we need a bigger government to help us with medicare and cancer patients. The other day I saw a television ad on st.Jude and how it cost them $1.9 millions dollars to run that hospital a day. Like why can't the government help those cancer patients to get better and to find a cure for cancer.
I think we should have a larger government to help us with our unemployment and social security because even though we are out of the recession its like we are not going anywhere and people are still not getting hired and still looking for jobs. Also people get older they need social security for money and if we have a smaller government they wouldn't be getting alot or it will just be a problem everybody will be debating about. Even though a smaller government is a good idea i think that a larger government will help with the more important stuff and a smaller government will focus more on what we want more than what we need.

I think that the states should have more power, because they can make laws that are need in each state however the federal government should still have power.

I am more in favor of a smaller government because, the government is not perfect. For example, in the article, Perry proposed an order that "would have required all sixth grade girls in the state to receive the vaccine unless their parents opted out," which was quickly rejected. Now, what if one of those girls contracts a strain of cervical cancer, that the HPV shot could have eliminated, and subsequently dies? This is why a smaller government is needed. And I don't think that, if a state is trying to save lives, that it is overstepping its boundaries.

No matter the size of our government our problems can not all be solved. There is simply no right choice because our problems will not be solved based off of the size of our government. The problems we have know must be solved no matter how large the government is meaning having to much of an influence on our lives. Know when it comes down to mandatory std vaccinations that is going to far because that has nothing to do with the government that should be a step that is taken by the person that requires it to be given to them.

A small government and a large government can both help people in many ways. I cannot decide which would be better for society. A small government would help because more power would be in the people. A larger government would help people when they are in need for things such as medicare and in some places transportation. However larger governments butt into peoples lives by making it necessary to take certain vaccines.

I think we need a large government because if we were to make laws ourselves then America would be chaotic. In addition, people would only think about themselves, and what they want not what's best for America. I don't like the idea of the mandatory HPV vaccine because it could have many side effects, for example, when swine flu was a big thing they had vaccine shot and it cause many problems.

i think keeping a bigger government for decisions about social security and medicare would be detrimental to americas society because if we have hundreds of people in the government like we do now directly deciding on factors that affect the american citizens money and health issues would take to longt and they would all disagree because i believe if you have a smaller group of people arguing over an issue the more likely they will agree on the subject quicker.

I think that it is crossing the line in certain situations. If someone is always in hospitals or around people, i think that it should be mandatory. If someone isn't around people, such as a person that just stays inside their office all day, i don't think they should get it. I would prefer to leave that decision as our choice though.

ok First I think our government is fine, it isn't perfect but it's the best method. I just think we need less stupid, selfish, and " think they know it alls" in office. Fact if every one could put there two cents into the government and raising our country we'd fall, simple. and America needs to be patient, but we aren't. I think It's good that Perry is eventhinking about the young girls in society he is trying to protect the women and men of the future. Fact just because people have nouths doesn't necessarily mean that have to or need to use them. Fact just because you have an opinion doesn't make you right or mean everything should go your way. Because uhmm.. FACT!!! there are a lot of dumb Americans, lost americans, and I don't care americas. oh yeah, and fact not everyone is going to agree on everything, we are all different people, different minds, different views thrown together in a nation made up of different cultures. Example if the woman fighting the HPV vacine had cervical cancer should would probably feel a lot different especiallyif she had kids, but since she doesn't then she more so only seeeing things from one prospective. perspective example...if two people are looking at the same color car but one in the light in one in the dark well they will both name the car a different color and maybe evn style for the simple fact they are looking from one perspective. If the two people were to switch on see things over the fence then they would better understand.

To be fair (although most of them aren't), protections they advocate for consumers and workers are sometimes necessary. I wish I could claim there are no predatory capitalists, but there are too many of those.
in my opinion i think that we should have a bigger government that will help us with our needs such as employment, medicare, social securities, welfare, etc. if we were to have a smaller government then many people would be in alot problems, there would be alot of crimes and cruelty. government stops all of this and helps us live in a better organized society

To me, we should have a bigger government to help us with alot more issues than what a smaller government could do for us. With a smaller government, sooner or later it will be a dictatorship. With STD's becoming a larger problem, making it mandatory would stop STD's from spreading like they do. But, with mandatory Std vaccinations, it can cause alot of side effects, just how the swine flu did.
