Kayla Jackson 3B I think that he should be given a new trial. There is not enough physical evidence to determine if he is guilty or innocent. I think that his future would be brighter had the people standing up for him now, would have been there in the past. Like in the First 48, people can not be convicted unless there is evidence like, a confession, fingerprints, or video footage.
I dont believe there is substantial evidence to convict Davis, nonetheless execute him. First of all there should be an investigation of internal affairs within the police system. Since there are witnesses saying they were pressured by police. Also what i hear is pure speculation. Even if it is believed that Davis commited the crime. There seems to be a number of people and witnesses who say otherwise. One must not be convicted of and crime unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Therefore Since there are reasonable doubts and the fact that there is a doubt,Should immediately free this man from the charges of murder. Or at least given a new trial with sufficient evidence to convict him of murder. jessica Flores 1-B
i dont believe that he should be executed but i do think that he should he time there is some eveidence that the was the person who murdered the cop but then again there is little evidence but i think they should give him a smll amount of time to do like 6 months or less because they dont have alot of proof that he was the killer of the georgia cop maybe he should get a new trail and see what the judge thins and how they would react to hearing this and would they continue to execute him free him from prison or give him some time
i dont believe that he should be executed but i do think that he should do some time because i dont think what he did was wrong enought to loss his life but i do think he deserves to do time.
i think he should be givin a new trail because his old jury said he should be sentence to death but now she has doubts about it. it has been over 15 years and half the cases that happened in 1989 were closed what about all the raping and other things that happened why cant we hear about those cases its always murder that you hear about the most these days. Deaunte Watson 4A
I think that he should have be given another trial because there isnt any evidence that points to him. Without physical evidence you cant really convict someone for a crime, especially if he/she didnt do it. Out of all the people that came foward, back then at least one of them should have came foward. If they would have been came foward then he would still be alive right now. DeShauna Wilson Period.2B
i think this case should have gotten another trial . i think this because the had no real evidence that he killed the police officer . i think on my opinion they should have never brought the case up , and left him in jail . because the case was back in the 80's so even if he was proven not guilty , he would have been set free , and not knew how to survive in this world because he had been locked up for so long . I just think the whole idea of him being executed was stupid . i also this the reason the people who made the court even have a thought he could be not guilty was because his execution date was coming up , and they started to feel guilty themselves for getting an innocent person in this type of situation . but that my opinion .
He should have gotten a new trail. people lied and that was not fair to him. They should not have killed him because no one really knows the truth. There was not enough eviedence to kill him. They could have KILED an INOCENT man. There are people today who have done much worse things and only got a certain amoutnt of time.If They wasn't going to do another trail they should have at least given him life!
i believe that he was innocent because the witnesses even stated that the police has told them to say that the man was guilty. I was highly upset because supreme court said that he was still not proven guilty and they wouldn't let him go to court anymore because of his case.
I believe that he is innocent and should not be on death row because they have no real evidence saying he is guilty. They should have never killed him.
Crazy! This is crazy... In my opinion he should be innocent. No evidence of him actually killing someone... Yall kept him in jail for 20 years for something that he might not have even done. What are you all doing giving someone the death pentalty with no evidence? Innocent until proven Guilty!!!
I think this is just really ridiculous. Its ridiculous because for one, this was way back in the 80's. Also because they didn’t even have enough evidence for this case. They didn’t really know if he did it or not. He kept saying he didn’t do it and the only people that believed him was his family and friends. So I say that he shouldn’t be executed and given another trial. Also the cops should look into the case more. people kept changing up their story so how do they really know he's guilty. I understand that the cop needed justice but your not supposed to kill an innocent person.
I think if tey are going to persecute heim they should just sentence him for life in prison because if ten years down the road they discover evidence nad they have all ready killed him then you can't bring him back to life nor compensate for it, a life is like a lot of things it only happens oce. you can only kill a person once. a life is a precious thing that people should cherish. Honestly i don't really believe in the death penalty because who is anyone to decide when someone else should die and live even if they kklled 50 people because the Bible says only GOD takes a life, but then maybe that is GOD's way of taking somelives maybe that's how they were meant to die. and it is the illegel to lie in the court so if those people lied on his case and are now confessing it then they should be put in jail for falsely accusing and providing false information.
I believe that them executing Troy Davis is an outrage. They have no evidence that he really did shot the police officer. They have not found an weapon and witnesses came forth and said there not sure or it wasn't him. I don't think he should have lose this life , maybe life in jail because they still don't know if he really guilty or not. Rayven Jones
No I Do Not Think They Should Execute him because they do not have full eveidence that troy davis shout an police officer. if he did that still do not give them a right to kill him its not their choice him being in jail for life that is torture enough. lets say they do execute him and he did not really kill the officer then they would stupid and feel cause they killed him for no reason. No EXECUTION!! Taylor Bynum 1A
In my opinion, i do not think they should execute him because they dont have proof. The witnesses lied about them seeing him shoot the police officer. Instead of killing him, they could just kept him in jail. They have not found the gun that he supposedly shot the police officer with. Basically they killed him for no reason.
I hust wish What ever they would do they would look at the evidence first. Clearly there is not enough but whatver floats their boat. looks like they might cleaning up the dead remains of another body. O and just think of how much money they are waisting deciding this. This is our Federal system that we support.
I think that he is innocent because they have another possible suspect, Sylvester Coles, that they probably havent pursued. Also their is new evidence avaliable that can prove his innocence, but for some reason it is being denied by the federal court, and there are witnessess who now have doubt. One even testifing that they heard "Redd" confess. I think they should give hive a whole new trial with people who are unbias about the case and admit any new evidence found .
I believe he shouldn't be executed . They have little to no proof that he really killed the officer . How can they be sure he did it . The witnesses can't even get there stories straight . So why would you hold this man's life in there hands . He should be put back in jail till they have legit evidence .
I dont think he should be executed because thats just taking it to the extreme I personally think if it was a "white" person they would just got to jail for a year or so. On the other hand i did some research on him and he has a really bad record he has killed people and harmed people. I think in this particular situation he had nothing to do with it. Raymond Flowers 1B
I do not think that he should be executed because he has been on trial for 22 year and on death row for 4.. it was obviously something in the jury, and supreme court think that he could possible be innocent. One thing i read was the people who testified against him cam out 22 year later saying they were paid to say that he was guilty. I think they should have put him back on trial and i'm pretty sure that he will be a free man.
I believe he shouldn't be put to death , because the court does not have enough evidence to say he should be executed . Witnesses are recanting and saying that the police forced them to say what they said , the jury should have taken that into consideration before giving such a harsh sentence. If the jury and the courts are wrong they made a big mistake and they can never repay his family for the life they took .
Troy Davis should have not been killed. 7 of the 9 witnesses recanted their statements. It was obvious that he was innocent. If they could not release him, they could at least give him a new to prove his innocence. The police should be investigated and dealt with.
I dont think that he should of been out to death Because he killed an officer. They should of got more evidence and started a new trail .it don't make sense how they reopened a case that happened at least 10 years ago. ( Taqiyyah Recio )
I don't think he should have been executed because there was reasonable doubt. He got a fair trial, and was guilty, but with no DNA evidence he shouldn't got the death penalty.I believe people should only get the death penalty when its DNA evidence, and they're 100% that you committed the crime. Ajani Bryant 1A
This was a really sad case. I don't think Troy should have been executed, just based on the fact that they didn't have physical evidence to honestly prove it was him. Just think about it, why would a "security guard on duty" come over and attempt to help a homeless man and assist the cop just shoot the police officer. Only thing they really had were the witnesses and even the witnesses changed their story after years passed by. 7 out of 9 of them said they were scared and lied because the police forced them. I saw a few videos about this case and it showed where a witness claimed she saw Troy Davis shoot and kill officer Mark MacPhail. It was 1:00 am and this women was in no range to identify the face of anyone. Another clip showed a witness claiming they saw Troy shoot and kill officer MacPhail in a car with very dark tinted windows it's no way they could have clearly seen troys face. Also on these clips their was another guy involved, his name was Red Coles. Police never did anything to investigate Coles even though he had the same weapon was at the crime seen and stashed he clothes at someones house. Years later more than half of the witnesses told the truth like I stated earlier but it was too late if they told the truth a little sooner Troy may have had a chance. I don't think this was any type of way to get justice because in my eyes Troy was innocent I think they should have kept Troy in jail until they found "real" evidence, even though he didn't deserve to be their. And I think this whole case was crap.
I think that he should be given a new trial. There is not enough physical evidence to determine if he is guilty or innocent. Especially for something that was done way back in the 80's
Even though Troy Davis is dead now, they should of made a new trail because they didn't find a murder weapon and they just don't have enough evidence to say that he was guilty. You know their are alot of people on death row and when they say they didn't do what they did,the person could of been saying the truth. that just really just piss me off just to see a innocence black get death row just because no one try to help him with his case.
I dont think he should of been executed because the story just didn't add up, even the president was wondering what was going on. I think that the prosecuters should of delayed the trial and investigated the case more before they made a decision
I believe that killing him was wrong. He should have been given another trial because there was not enough evidence. They failed to give this man the justice he deserved. They should have at least got more evidence before they ended another person's life. They ended this case too fast and made a very rash decision. They should change their tactics for court.
Guilty or Innocent he deserved another trial. If so many people believe he is innocent the courts should have took another look into his case, and what I don't understand is if he was guilty why did it take them 22 years to figure it out. In addition, why are the witnesses testifying that they have doubts. This case is a unsolved mystery. If they did not execute Casey Anthony why would they execute Troy Davis. It's pretty obvious she killed her daughter, but she was not arrested or executed because they did not have enough evidence. This court system is a mess.
In my opnion Troy Davis is innocent and shouldnt have been executed because he kill the person plus the 7 out of 9 people changed there storys and said the police made then say he was guilty soo once again the government/police messed up again ... Terrence M. 1B
Elijah Powell 3B I don't think they should have killed him because it wasn't really enough or good reasons for executing him.It seemed to me like they were just doing this just because. If it was up to me i would have given him amother trail.
Yea he was innocent, they should of killed him because they didnt have enough evidence and the police told them to say he was guilty which was complete bs. They should of just let him go.
Ashanti Walcott 1/A Whether he was innocent or guilty, because there was a REASONABLE DOUBT then his life should have been spared. He should have received a life sentence. He should have received another trial recalling all witnesses that had recanted their previous testimony.
Eventhough he has already been executed he should have be retrialed because of the simple fact that witnesses backed away from their testimony. They even claimed to have been bullied into thier testimony. I believe the justice system was furious at the fact that they lost one of their own and felt the need to pin the murder on someone. This is a case of unjust justice. I dont believe it was racism but i do believe it was unfair and that Troy Davis was incriminated. His case and death should be used for here on that the death penalty isnt a fair punishment in every case and should be thought about in a deeper sense. Julius Bradley 1a
I don't feel like they should have killed him. They didn't have a good enough reason to anyways. Personally they should have gave him another chance and trial to prove himself to the jury. Some things don't make sense because they killed him and held him for 20+ years but let a woman go for killing her child and a man for killing his wife. Not fair to me
